KOKORO SUSHI PACKAGE DESIGN

This take-out box for a sushi restaurant needed to hold four other boxes. I first decided on a pyramid shape, as it would be best to fit the different sizes of the interior boxes. I realized the pyramid could be illustrated to represent Mount Fuji, an important symbol in Japanese culture.

The bottom interior box was designed to hold an entree, then two boxes to hold sushi, and a small box to hold condiments like wasabi and soy sauce. The condiment box can also be unfolded and used as a small bowl for dipping.

Sticking with the theme of the exterior box, Japanese symbolism was used throughout, showing the cherry blossom tree and the koi fish. Each box has a short blurb about their meanings in Japanese culture, with the smallest box having information about Mount Fuji.
