STAR WARS/DISNEY SPREADHot-button topics are fun to take on, even when they’re asinine. Such was the case with this illustration that accompanies an article about the sale of the Star Wars franchise by Disney. I had a lot of fun with this one and didn’t feel that I had to worry about going too crazy with symbolism. The composition was my main focus, and after I had that worked out, I tried to fit in several representations of the two. With the Epcot Death Star, I got lucky and was able to kill two birds with one stone.
The illustration was done primarily in colored pencils. While this worked well and gave me the overall look I was after, I was not able to get Darth Vader’s mask and helmet looking shiny and reflective. Eventually markers were introduced to the party and that gave me what I was after.
